School Improvement (Standard 10)

Me and my Cooperating Teacher with her business students at
a business workshop I facilitated.
Summary: Teaching can be one of the loneliest professions and one of the most collaborative professions – it's all up to the teacher.  Teaching for understanding, however, demands a deep commitment to ongoing professional learning and collaboration.

Standard 9 : Professional Learning and Ethical Practice
Rationale / Artifacts:
Commendation: Thank you for always helping us in business.  I’m thankful that you always respond back quickly.  Your teaching methods are always fun so thank you for that.  (Sydni I., Student)

I thank you for helping me in class. I always struggle on most assignments we do in class.  I am thankful you guys are there to make things clearer and simpler for me to understand.  When I first stepped in class, I had no clue what was going on.  But thanks to the both of you, I am able to understand what’s happening now.  I always wanted to make my own business based on clothes.  I am very well appreciated I chose this class as an elective. (Noel A., Student)

Standard 10 : Leadership and Collaboration
Rationale / Artifacts:
Commendation: In the community Debbie has integrated “real life” case studies into the classroom. She is in close contact with business owners and leaders of organizations. One of the summative assessment for the class requires submitting a RFP for a chosen business. Debbie’s connection with Hoʻōla Nā Pua, featured in the Honolulu StarAdvertiser, allows students to apply business concepts to “real life” events. (Gabe Garduque, College Supervisor)
